The Data Scientist is responsible for the implementation of data analytics projects for the companies’ clientele, in close collaboration with the other members of the Business Analytics & Insights unit and under the supervision of the head of the unit. 

The ideal candidate, with the proper guidance, will focus on (i) maintaining datamarts to serve the needs of existing projects and assisting the creation of new ones, (ii) building dashboards and using data mining techniques to assist the generation of new information, (iii) understanding customer behavior and portfolio trends, and (iv) working together with the team to discover business insights and implement advanced predictive and optimization analytics with the use of proper Machine Learning algorithms. 

This role combines the competence of working with data with the enthusiasm to apply and further enhance technical skills and the ability to communicate findings orally and visually. Also, it requires maintaining an open communication with the Company’s Project Management, to ensure high standards of delivered quality and proper delivery times.

Α. Data mining & reporting

  • Collect, integrate and manage data from various data sources and maintain ETL processes on different warehouse structures, with proper supervision.
  • Handle data quality, cleansing and customer deduplication tasks.
  • Create and maintain data marts and use data mining and visualization reporting techniques to interpret information, discover trends and finally provide on-going reporting for business purposes

Β. Business Analytics

  • Understand business challenges and relate them with specific analytics activities.
  • Participate in the creation of customer segmentations by applying RFM, clustering and classification techniques.
  • Work on statistical analysis methods to develop predictive models to drive decisions on customer acquisition & retention, and in campaign targeting.
  • Work on basket analysis projects to point out product associations
  • Perform campaign management including designing, executing and evaluating communication activities, with proper guidance from senior data analysts.


Required qualifications include:

  • BS or MS in Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Proven working 1-2 years’ experience in data mining & data preparation, predictive analytics and applied statistics.
  • Proven programming skills in Base SAS, R or Python, Java, Ruby etc.
  • Advanced use of Excel and/or MS Access
  • Completed military obligations (where applicable)

Additional qualifications to be considered include: 

  • Experience in relational database systems (e.g. SQL, MySQL, Business Objects)
  • Knowledge of big data software and databases (e.g. Hadoop, Hive)
  • Knowledge of GIS tools (MapInfo, QGIS etc.), Visual analytics (PowerBI, Tableau, ClickView etc.) or text analytics
  • Experience in Google analytics and other web analytics tools.
