Athens, 20 July 2023 – Linakis.digital and Uni Systems have joined forces to transform Athens International Airport’s (AIA) digital presence through the design and implementation of a new website and e-parking application that will be hosted on a common platform, to flexibly and swiftly accommodate millions of AIA visitors, on an annual basis.

Following an international open tender procedure, the two organizations were awarded the project as a consortium. The objective of the project is to transform AIA’s digital presence, through the design of an integrated and state-of-the-art customer experience solution. The project also foresees the implementation of cutting-edge technology as well as the configuration of the most suitable infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. The aim therefore is to deliver for AIA, an upgraded website with e-parking personalization capabilities, which until now has been hosted on a different platform. The reason for a common platform is to optimize the visitors’ online experience, catering to their informational and commercial needs.

Linakis.digital, a leading agency that delivers cutting-edge websites and digital experiences, will design an unparalleled digital experience for users, through the new website which will have advanced functionalities. The implementation will be based on the internationally acclaimed digital experience platform (DXP) Kentico. The Kentico platform has the capability to facilitate the display of personalized content with each user interaction and to comprehend the users’ needs based on their omnichannel behavior. Finally, Linakis.digital will also integrate the ParkAdoro system by Parkaround.

Uni Systems will undertake the infrastructure scale component of the project with a solution that will be developed, operated, and monitored through the Microsoft Azure platform as Software as a Service. The infrastructure will be hosted in European data centers to satisfy compliance with relevant EU laws and regulations, as well as regulations related to data retention. It is worth noting that the architecture has been designed to provide the highest possible levels of speed, security, availability, and scalability, following the most up-to-date international standards.

The project’s objective is to optimize the user’s overall travel experience, whilst also supporting the promotion of Greek tourism and highlighting Athens as the “gateway to Greece”. Upon its completion the website will function as the central hub for the large volume of visitors, serving as their primary point of contact and playing a crucial role in shaping their expectations while simplifying their travel experiences.

Ioanna Papadopoulou, Communications & Marketing Director of Athens International Airport, stated: “Our collaboration with our two exceptional and leading partners, Uni Systems and Linakis.digital, for the functional evolution of AIA’s digital presence, is yet another important step toward digital transformation and a vital communication tool for our partners, the city and the country’s visitors, as well as the wider public!
